Ankylosis of the Knee

VA disability rating criteria for Ankylosis of the Knee under Diagnostic Code 5256. The VA assigns ratings of 30%, 40%, 50%, 60% based on the severity and functional impact of your condition.

Rating Criteria

30%Disability Rating

Favorable ankylosis of the knee: In full extension, or in slight flexion (0 to 10 degrees).

Note: Favorable position is full extension (leg straight).

40%Disability Rating

Unfavorable ankylosis of the knee: In flexion between 10 and 45 degrees, or in full extension where extension of only the contralateral knee is affected.

50%Disability Rating

In flexion between 20° and 45°

60%Disability Rating

Unfavorable ankylosis of the knee: In flexion at an angle of 45 degrees or more.
