VA disability rating criteria for Burn Scars, Head, Face, or Neck under Diagnostic Code 7800. The VA assigns ratings of 10%, 30%, 50%, 80% based on the severity and functional impact of your condition.
Rating Criteria
Burn scars of the head, face, or neck with slight disfigurement: Superficial scars covering < 5% of the face, head, or neck; no significant functional impairment; pigmentation changes only or minor scar tissue.
Note: Rate by total area and extent of disfigurement.
Burn scars of the head, face, or neck with moderate disfigurement: Scars involving 5–19% of the face, head, or neck; or scars involving the eyelids, lips, or ears with moderate functional or cosmetic impairment.
Burn scars of the head, face, or neck with marked disfigurement: Scars involving 20–39% of the face, head, or neck; or scars causing significant functional impairment of the eyelids, lips, nose, or ears.
Burn scars of the head, face, or neck with severe disfigurement: Scars involving 40% or more of the face, head, or neck; or near-total loss of nose, ears, eyelids, or lips; profound cosmetic and functional impairment.
