VA disability rating criteria for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) under Diagnostic Code 9404. The VA assigns ratings of 10%, 30%, 50%, 70%, 100% based on the severity and functional impact of your condition.
Rating Criteria
OCD: Mild occupational and social impairment; obsessions and/or compulsions present but not severely time-consuming (< 1 hour per day); minimal interference with daily activities; symptoms responsive to treatment.
Note: Rated under the General Rating Formula for Mental Disorders.
OCD: Obsessions and/or compulsions that are time-consuming (1–3 hours per day); cause significant distress; occasional decrease in work efficiency and social functioning; respond partially to treatment.
OCD: Obsessions and/or compulsions that are severely time-consuming (> 3 hours per day); significantly reduce work efficiency and productivity; impair social relationships; compulsive rituals interfering with routine activities.
OCD: Obsessional rituals and compulsions that occupy most of the day; near-continuous anxiety; inability to maintain employment or social relationships; deficiencies in most areas of functioning.
OCD: Total occupational and social impairment; unable to perform activities of daily living independently; grossly inappropriate behavior; persistent danger to self or others; inability to maintain minimal personal hygiene.
