Peritoneal Adhesions

VA disability rating criteria for Peritoneal Adhesions under Diagnostic Code 7301. The VA assigns ratings of 0%, 10%, 30%, 50%, 80% based on the severity and functional impact of your condition.

Rating Criteria

0%Disability Rating

Peritoneal adhesions: Symptoms of peritoneal adhesions (discomfort after eating, occasional nausea, constipation) not interfering with adequate nutrition.

Note: Often result from prior abdominal surgery, infection, or trauma.

10%Disability Rating

Peritoneal adhesions: With episodes of disturbance of bowel function (constipation, diarrhea, nausea) occurring less than twice per year; or with pain associated with change in weather or overexertion.

30%Disability Rating

Peritoneal adhesions: With frequent episodes of bowel obstruction (2 or more per year); or requiring special diet; or with recurring nausea and vomiting interfering with nutrition and weight maintenance.

50%Disability Rating

Peritoneal adhesions: With severe, frequent bowel obstruction episodes requiring hospitalization; or with severe nutritional deficiency; or constant, debilitating symptoms.

80%Disability Rating

Persistent partial bowel obstruction that is either inoperable and refractory to treatment, or requires total parenteral nutrition (TPN) for obstructive symptoms
