Editorial Standards
VeteranHQ publishes 71 guides about VA disability benefits. Those pages discuss ratings, compensation amounts, effective dates, and appeal deadlines, where a wrong answer costs a veteran money or time. This page describes how the guides are researched, cited, and kept current, so you can judge them rather than take them on faith.
We cite primary sources
Rules come from the regulation, not from someone's summary of it. Guides are written from 38 CFR (the VA's rating schedule and adjudication rules), Title 10 and Title 38 of the U.S. Code, and the VA's own published material at VA.gov. Every guide carries a “Sources & Authorities” section listing the specific authorities behind it, so you can check any claim against the text it came from.
Where a rule is genuinely ambiguous, or where an outcome depends on facts we cannot see, the guide says so instead of guessing.
Every guide carries a verification date
Each guide shows a “Last verified” date at the top. That is the date someone last re-read the guide against its cited authorities and confirmed it still matches them. It is tracked separately from the publication date, so re-checking a guide never disguises old content as new. Rates, thresholds, and deadlines change; the date tells you how fresh the check was.
What we do not do
VeteranHQ does not prepare, file, or represent VA claims, and nothing here is legal advice or a promise of an outcome. The guides explain how the system works and what evidence tends to matter. Filing decisions are yours, and for representation you are entitled to free help from a VA-accredited VSO.
We do not publish AI-invented authorities, and we do not attach a person's name to a guide they have not read.
Subject-matter review
Guides that have been reviewed by a named subject-matter expert carry that person's name in the page's structured data. A reviewer credit appears only after that person has read the guide and signed off on it.

Corrections
If a guide is wrong, we want to fix it rather than defend it. Report an error through support, and include the guide and the authority you think it conflicts with. Substantive corrections update the guide and its verification date.
