Limitation of Flexion of the Leg (Knee)

VA disability rating criteria for Limitation of Flexion of the Leg (Knee) under Diagnostic Code 5260. The VA assigns ratings of 0%, 10%, 20%, 30% based on the severity and functional impact of your condition.

Rating Criteria

0%Disability Rating

Flexion limited to 60 degrees or less. Note: 0% is not an assignable rating for this DC; the minimum compensable rating when service connection is established is 10% (flexion to 45 degrees or less).

Note: Normal knee flexion is approximately 140 degrees. Ratings are assigned when flexion falls below threshold values. DC 5260 applies when the primary limitation is in flexion rather than extension.

10%Disability Rating

Flexion limited to 45 degrees.

20%Disability Rating

Flexion limited to 30 degrees.

30%Disability Rating

Flexion limited to 15 degrees.

Note: Flexion limited to 15 degrees represents severe functional limitation. At this level the veteran cannot perform activities requiring knee bending such as stair climbing or kneeling.
