VA disability rating criteria for Ankylosis of the Scapulohumeral Joint under Diagnostic Code 5200. The VA assigns ratings of 20%, 30%, 40%, 50% based on the severity and functional impact of your condition.
Rating Criteria
Favorable ankylosis of the scapulohumeral joint: In abduction to 60 degrees and forward flexion to 25 degrees; or with arm at side in the most favorable position.
Note: Favorable position = arm at side in internal rotation or slight abduction.
Unfavorable ankylosis of the scapulohumeral joint: In abduction to 90 degrees, if elbow cannot be raised to level of shoulder.
Unfavorable ankylosis of the scapulohumeral joint: In abduction between 90 degrees and 180 degrees.
Unfavorable ankylosis of the scapulohumeral joint: In adduction with the humerus fixed to the side (worst position).
Note: This is the worst unfavorable position.
