The split is the whole design. Everything about VA regulation is free and anonymous. Everything about your record sits behind an account, a membership and your explicit approval, and reads nothing else.

What leaves, and what never does
This is the same list you approve in Settings, word for word in substance, because two different answers on two screens is how a promise quietly stops being true. Every read below is bound to your account by the server before it runs.
What leaves, every time your AI client asks
- Your name and email
- Your service history: branch, service dates, MOS, deployments
- Your combined rating, and each condition rating, diagnostic code and effective date
- Your claim status, claim details, milestones and evidence lists
- Denied and deferred conditions, and any appeals
- Your VA payment history, including dates and amounts
- Your dependents
- Your document titles, types, and the AI written summaries of what is in them, including files in your Medical Vault
- Stored text from documents on your account, including Medical Vault documents and documents added later, but only if you allow document text when your assistant signs in
The files themselves
When you allow document text, the connector gets the extracted or pasted text VeteranHQ stores, one document at a time, and VeteranHQ records an attempt before each read. It never gets the uploaded file, and stored text may not contain everything in the original.
Anything that writes
There is not one write tool on the connector. It cannot change, add, delete or submit anything, anywhere.
Filing with VA
VeteranHQ helps you gather evidence. We never prepare or file a claim for you, by deliberate product rule, and the connector is no exception.
Your money
No payment, billing or purchase runs through the connector. It cannot move a dollar.
Every other account
The server binds each personal read to your account before it runs. Nothing your AI client sends can widen that.
Three steps, and not one of them is a password
The only thing you copy is the address below, and it is public. When your assistant first uses it, you sign in on veteranhq.app in your own browser and approve there, where we can show you what you are agreeing to and confirm it is really you.

The ten VA regulation tools need no account, no membership and no setup on our side. Any MCP client can connect to the address below and use them today.
Add the address in your assistant
Add this address in your assistant, then sign in to VeteranHQ when it asks. There is nothing to paste but the address, and nothing to keep secret.
In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors.
Choose Add custom connector, paste the address, and choose Add.
Choose Connect next to VeteranHQ. You will sign in on veteranhq.app, read this disclosure once more, and approve.
After you approve, open the tools menu in your chat and make sure VeteranHQ is switched on; Claude only uses connectors that are enabled for that chat.
Claude asks before it uses each tool. To answer once for all of them, open Customize > Connectors, choose VeteranHQ, and under Tool permissions set the read-only tools to Always allow. Every VeteranHQ tool is read-only, so that one setting covers all of them.
You sign in on veteranhq.app, in your own browser. Your assistant never sees your password. Access lasts 90 days, then your assistant asks you to sign in again.
If it did not work
The sign-in tab showed your dashboard instead of the permission screen.
Click Connect in your assistant again.
Claude says it has no VeteranHQ tools.
Enable it in the chat's tools menu, then ask again.
Claude keeps asking permission.
Set the read-only tools to Always allow in Customize > Connectors > VeteranHQ, or pick Allow always on the prompt (that choice lasts only for that chat).
Sign in when it asks
Your assistant opens veteranhq.app in your browser. You sign in, read exactly what it could see, and approve. No key to copy, nothing to keep safe.
Connector address
https://api.veteranhq.app/mcpStreamable HTTP. Reachable with no credential for the ten regulation tools. The personal tools appear only on a session your account has authorized, and that authorization happens when you sign in on veteranhq.app from your own assistant. This address is public on purpose: it is not a credential, and there is no credential for you to hold.
You hold the switch, and we keep the receipts
The connector is off until you turn it on, it tells you what it will share before you decide, and it stops the moment you say so.
You approve first, in full
Consent is explicit, tied to your account, and versioned. If we ever change what we tell you the connector can read, your old approval stops counting and we ask again rather than let you agree to text you never saw.
Off blocks new requests
Turn the connector off in Settings and it blocks new requests from every assistant you connected. There is no waiting period and no partial state. A request already in progress may finish, and nothing can take back what was already sent.
Access expires on its own
An approval lasts 90 days, then your assistant asks you to sign in again. Revocation is the real control; the clock is the backstop.
Every personal read is logged
VeteranHQ records an attempt before reading your record for your assistant, one row per call, naming the tool and, for document text, the document and the page. If that record cannot be written, the read is not performed. Regulation lookups carry no personal data and write no such row.
Encrypted on our side
Sensitive fields are encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM and everything moves over HTTPS. You sign in on veteranhq.app and your assistant receives a short-lived credential we can revoke at any time. It never receives your password, and you never handle a key.
Your account, verified
Only a verified, active VeteranHQ account can open a connector session. A deleted or unverified account cannot, no matter what credential is presented.
What we cannot promise
Once your data reaches your AI client, it is in that conversation and under your agreement with that AI provider. We cannot delete it there, we cannot see how it is used, and we cannot promise it is safe. Our encryption and our retention rules protect your data on our systems. They do not follow it out. Use this connector wisely: share it only with a client you trust, and only for as long as you need it.
Straight answers
Not for the ten VA regulation tools. Combined rating math, presumptive screens, compensation rates, secondary conditions and legal authority search work for anyone, with no account and no payment, because none of them can reach a veteran record at all. The five tools that read your own record need a VeteranHQ account, a membership, and your explicit approval.
No. The connector publishes read tools and nothing else. There is no tool to file, submit, edit, upload or delete, so there is no confused turn a model could take that would change your record. Separately, VeteranHQ does not prepare or file claims for anyone: we help you gather evidence, and filing stays yours.
Only if you allow it. Your document list, with titles, types and the summaries VeteranHQ wrote, comes with the document permission, and that list includes Medical Vault documents. Stored text from documents on your account, including Medical Vault documents and documents added later, comes only if you allow document text when your assistant signs in, one document at a time, and VeteranHQ records an attempt before each read. It never gets the file itself, and stored text may not contain everything in the original. If that is more than you want to share, leave the document-text switch off, or turn the connector off in Settings.
Settings, then AI Connector, then turn it off. One confirmation, and it blocks new connector requests from every assistant you connected. Requests already in progress may finish, and it cannot take back information already sent. You can turn it back on later; you will read the disclosure again first.

No. VeteranHQ is independent software. It is not part of, endorsed by, or affiliated with the Department of Veterans Affairs. Only VA decides ratings, effective dates and payment amounts, and every number the connector returns says so.
