CNMI Tuition Waiver for Veterans at Northern Marianas College
Full NMC tuition waived; books, student activity fees and lab fees are not coveredCNMI law requires the Northern Marianas College governing board to waive tuition entirely for an eligible veteran, defined as a CNMI resident who served in active federal service under Title 10 or Title 32 and is certified with at least 30 percent service-connected disability. The waiver covers tuition only, not books, student activity fees or laboratory fees, and can be used toward an associate, bachelor's or master's degree.
Note: IMPLEMENTATION WARNING, READ BEFORE RELYING ON THIS. The statutory entitlement is unambiguous (3 CMC 1371-1374, enacted by PL 22-16 in 2022), but the waiver is NOT published anywhere on NMC's own website: NMC's tuition page lists only senior-citizen and employee waivers and states that only one waiver type applies at a time. A veteran pursuing this should cite PL 22-16 and 3 CMC 1372 directly to the Office of Admissions and Records. The waiver pays SECOND to federal and local tuition-only benefits, covering whatever balance remains after the GI Bill. Applications are due no later than the last class date of the term. It does not cover courses dropped after the withdrawal period or failed courses.
