New Mexico Vietnam Veterans Scholarship

Full tuition and fee waiver

New Mexico Vietnam-era veterans who received a Vietnam Campaign Medal are entitled to free tuition and fees at any New Mexico public university, college, or community college.

New Mexico grants veterans a 10-point preference on state employment examinations. Disabled veterans receive additional consideration for state civil service positions.

New Mexico Veterans Tax Exemption on Income

Full income tax exemption for 100% disabled veterans

New Mexico veterans with a service-connected disability rating of 100% are exempt from paying state income tax on any income. Military retirement pay for all veterans is also partially or fully deductible.

New Mexico Disabled Veterans Property Tax Exemption

Full property tax exemption

Veterans with a 100% service-connected disability rating receive a full property tax exemption on their primary residence in New Mexico. Surviving spouses of such veterans also retain this benefit.

Free day-use at state parks (year-round for 50%+ disabled)

New Mexico provides free day-use access to all state parks for all veterans on Veterans Day, Memorial Day, and Armed Forces Day. Disabled veterans with 50%+ rating receive free annual day-use permits year-round.
