Wyoming Dependent Survivor Education Benefit

Surviving spouses and dependents of resident overseas combat veterans or Vietnam veterans who died during active service receive free tuition and fees for up to eight semesters at Wyoming state institutions.

Wyoming Resident Veteran Tuition Benefit

In-state tuition rates immediately upon establishing residency

Wyoming resident veterans are eligible for in-state tuition at the University of Wyoming and Wyoming community colleges regardless of how recently they moved to the state, and may qualify for additional tuition assistance.

Wyoming Military Retirement Income Tax Exemption

No state income tax on any veteran income

Wyoming levies no state income tax, meaning military retirement pay, VA disability compensation, Survivor Benefit Plan payments, and all other veteran income is completely free from Wyoming state income tax.

Wyoming Veterans Property Tax Exemption

Up to $6,000 reduction in assessed value (2025+)

Wyoming combat veterans and their surviving spouses may receive a property tax exemption on their primary residence. Beginning with the 2025 tax year (per SF0089 enacted in 2024), the maximum annual exemption is $6,000 of assessed value, doubled from the previous $3,000 cap. If the exemption is not used on real property, it may be applied to a vehicle's licensing fee.

Wyoming Free Hunting & Fishing for Disabled Veterans

Free fishing (50%+) or free hunting and fishing (100%)

Wyoming resident veterans with a 100% service-connected disability receive a free license to hunt small game, birds, and fish. Veterans with 50%+ disability receive a free fishing license. Active duty in a combat zone receive free hunting and fishing while home on leave.

Wyoming Free State Parks Pass for 50%+ Disabled Veterans

Free lifetime state park day-use and camping

Wyoming resident veterans with at least a 50% service-connected disability receive a free lifetime day-use and camping pass to all Wyoming state parks.
